Position: Machinist
Engine Lathe/HMC/Toyoda & HKK /CNC Late Medium
Kingston (CNC flat bed lathe) (Experienced 5 yrs)
Shift: 2nd & 3rd
Position Overview:
This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.
Job Responsibilities:
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
- Deburring of parts
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
- May perform any other work-related functions as deemed necessary and appropriate by immediate supervisor
Core Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 5 years experience on manual engine lathes and Bridgeport type mills, main duties include setting up and running close tolerance parts on 22” & 34” Kingston lathe’s must be familiar with three and four jaw chucks, the use of a steady rest, threading including double lead and turning between centers
- On mill duties include setup operation of Willis vertical mills, must be proficient in use of vices indexing heads. On both must be familiar with common tool selection cutting speeds feeds and characteristics of various materials including carbon steels, stainless steels and nickel alloy’s.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate of technical school, full apprenticeship program, or completion of in-company, three-year training program
- 8+ years of experience machinist

- Ability to read blueprints and specifications and produce precision work
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding
