Maker Technical Specialist, Project Manus
The MIT Office of Innovation seeks a maker technical specialist to aid Project Manus in formulating and implementing innovative improvements to MIT’s makersystem in measurable, scalable, and sustainable ways, including identification of new equipment and technologies, new making activities/programs, and developing educational materials/techniques for classes and trainings.
Responsibilities include working with other Project Manus staff to manage its two makerspaces/shops; acting as the primary machining expert; developing maker training curriculum for students/researchers/faculty; assisting the program director with planning new campus makerspaces, machine shops, project spaces, and other design/build spaces; supporting the teaching of making at events and classes; aiding in the development of new courses and materials; and performing other duties as needed.
Requirements:
The working conditions include standing for periods of time, climbing stairs, and moving weights of up to 50 lbs.
